Mattresses

Here's a fun game I play. First, I walk into a mattress store and ask what's on sale. Then, I throw my hands in the air and shout along with the salesman, "EVERYTHING'S ON SALE!!!!" Oh how we laugh, the salesman and I. And while he's still chuckling, I turn around and walk out, because I fricking hate mattress salesmen.

Hmm. Does anyone else have any advice about mattress purchase and selection to share?

We just bought a mattress. When asked how a particular mattress was constructed, the salesman replied, "I don't want to confuse you. There are so many different kinds of mattresses and if I start telling you about how they're made, you'll be too confused. Once you've decided on one you like, then I'll go into the details."

You know. Once you've made your decision without having to use pesky "facts."

PS. Our mattress is some fancy pants hypoallergenic foam thing (we bought a floor model).

I was afraid of buying a cheap spring one after what happened to the last one...

We aren't all evil, and not all of us actually enjoy what we're doing. http://youthinkyourjobisboring.blogspot.com/

Best advice I can give: haggle with the salesman. Never pay sticker price, get the free delivery. a good bed is around $700 in a queen, anything above $1500 is just extra fluff. Its slow times for us mattress guys, we'll bargin just to get a sell and put food in our family's mouths.
